What is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym:
Chairside: the technology is used while you are in the chair
Economical: the procedure is the most economical process for the patient
Restorations: the procedure restores your tooth to its natural beauty, function and strength
Esthetic: the restorations are METAL-FREE and match your natural tooth color
Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used which match your natural tooth structure the closest
The CEREC Process
After your dentist has diagnosed and answered all your questions regarding your CEREC crown, the following procedures take place:
1. An Optical Impression is Taken - instead of placing trays filled with "goop" in your mouth, we simply palce non-toxic, tasteless powder on your tooth for the digital image
2. The CEREC machine then digitally maps out a 3D model on the computer screen for review
3. After your dentist approves the model and tooth color, a ceramic block is placed into the milling machine to create your new restoration
4. After your restoration mills for 10-15 minutes, it is bonded to your tooth and any adjustments that might be needed are made chairside
With CEREC there is no need for a temporary crown and you are finished after one office visit!
